Maths Week 2014

On maths week Miss O’ Brien taught us maths tricks and did a maths trail for us. We also brought 2nd class on a trail. We had to bring them around the play ground to find the different answers. We were put into groups of three and four. In our maths trail we got to use chalk to tessellate shapes. When Miss O’ Brien showed us the maths tricks they were hard at first but when you got used to them, they were great fun. My favourite was the one where you had five cards with different numbers on each side. You had to get a person to scatter them on the ground and then you had to ask them to add the numbers up and you guessed what answer it was before they told you. My mum kept asking me how I did it. But I never told her! I really enjoyed maths week. By Saoirse Waldron

We created a Maths Trail for 2nd Class. We worked in groups of four and made up questions that would be suitable for 2nd class. It was great fun helping them trying to solve these problems. Below is a copy of the Maths trail that we created.
