A cycling instructor named Gerry came to our school to teach us about the rules on the road when cycling. Gerry showed us very important videos in the first session and he also showed us some basic manoeuvres. A fee of 2 euro had to be paid for each session if you wanted to do it.
In the second session he made us do an obstacle course. This really pushed our abilities to the maximum but it was worth it because it showed us some very valuable lessons. This would help us in the near future.
In the third session we went for a cycle to put the skills we had learned into action. Gerry and another cycle instructor helped us on the road. He gave us more tips to help us on the road when cycling.
On our final lesson we did fun cycling games. We played a game called figure of 8 where there were gates and there was pattern. It was one group member followed by a member of the opposite group. It was really fun but it was hard. People kept slowing down to make it harder for the people coming. Next he made a circle with some cones and we had to try keep in it. Gerry kept making it smaller and that made it harder for us to compete. There was great competition.
Gerry, then, made a road and to help us test our road skills and this made us better on the road. If you did not follow the rules of the road you would get tickets. The first one to get 3 points had to sit out. Since we were so good none of us got 3 points. After we finished with that game we went on to do an obstacle course. He timed us and we had a big competition. One mistake on the course would cost you dearly. It was great fun but it was really challenging.
After that game we started to play Simon says. You had to pay attention or else you would be out. After a few rounds of Simon says we started to cycle around our yard just to cool down. Gerry helped us a lot about the rules of the road. This would help us a lot in the near future. I would really recommend cycling training to other schools. Gerry had an in depth knowledge of the rule of the road and the games we played were really fun. In our opinion he was a top class instructor. He really helped us to learn the rules so we could stay safe on the roads!
