Nuair a shroich mé an scoil ar maidin chonaic mé Mr. Keane ag scríobh ar leathanach. 'Cad atá tú ag déanamh Mr. Keane?' arsa mise. 'Tá mé ag roghnú foireann don chomórtas socair' arsa Mr. Keane agus thosaigh sé ag scríobh arís. Is aoibheann liom an chomórtas sacair. Shiúil mé isteach sa seomra ranga agus thosaigh mé ag caint is ag comhrá le mo chairde faoin gcomórtas.
Ag am lóin dúirt Mr. Keane go raibh an comórtas ar siúl ag am lóin. Bhí an aimsir go breá ag d'imir mo fhoireann.Tar éis tamaill bhuaigh mo fhoireann agus léim mé suas agus síos le háthais.
An tseachtain seo caite d'imir mo fhoireann i gcoinne foireann buí sa chluiche ceannais peile. Bhí sceitimíní áthais agus giondar croí orm. Bhían foireann buí ar fheabhas agus bhí mé an néirbhíseach.
Ag leath ama, comhscór a bhí ann. Ansin dúirt mé le mo fhoireann. ' déan bhur ndíchill mar má bhuaimid gheobhaimid pas obair bhaile. Ach chríochnaigh an cluiche ar chomhscór.
An lá dar gcionn d'imríomar arís. Go tobann fuair mé an liathróid os comhair an chúl. Thug mé cic don liathróid agus níor chréid mé mo shúile. Fuair mé cúl! Ansin shéid an fhéadóg bhuaigh mo fhoireann. Thosaigh mo fhoireann ag céiliúradh gan stad.

This year 6th class in Bekan N.S are participating in the Junior Entrepreneur programme. The programme shows children how to start a small business from a young age. The children split into multiple groups and thought of an idea for their companies. There were 5 groups: Best Bottles, Stressed Out Stress Balls, Bring Along Bags, Heavenly Foods, Bring Bring Bike Bells and Brilliant Bullet Journals.
A few weeks in we had to think of our product and start thinking of materials we needed. Then we got laptops and started pricing them with the price for 1 unit 100/200 units cost price, selling price and profit .After about 3 weeks later we met the dragons and Bring Along Bags won. It was a great experience and we would highly recommend your school doing this fun programme.

Recently we read the novel Private Peaceful which was written by Michael Morpurgo. We really enjoyed the novel. We created auto-bio poems and illustrations of some of the main characters in groups.

Science Week 2018
On the Wednesday the 14th of November two groups from 6th class attended the bridge building competition in the Mc William in Claremorris . A few weeks before the competition all of 6th class split into groups of four or five and built bridges to hold a certain amount of weights. Only the top two groups went through to compete in the competition in the Mc William.
On the day we arrived at 12 o’clock, we were greeted by other teams from Mayo in 6th class. After everybody had arrived each team was escorted to their table by a member of science week team. When we arrived at our table we were given 25 straws & approximately 1 metre of masking tape and some sweets!
We had 40 minutes to complete our bridges.  There was a variety of different designs. We learned that we had to hook a bag of rice to our bridge which we were not expecting. Our design was built to withhold weight on the top of it so it did not live up to our expectations. But overall we had a very educational experience at the competition.

Cycling Lessons

Cycling Lessons
A cycling instructor named Gerry came to our school to teach us about the rules on the road when cycling. Gerry showed us very important videos in the first session and he also showed us some basic manoeuvres. A fee of 2 euro had to be paid for each session if you wanted to do it.
In the second session he made us do an obstacle course. This really pushed our abilities to the maximum but it was worth it because it showed us some very valuable lessons. This would help us in the near future.
In the third session we went for a cycle to put the skills we had learned into action. Gerry and another cycle instructor helped us on the road. He gave us more tips to help us on the road when cycling.
On our final lesson we did fun cycling games. We played a game called figure of 8 where there were gates and there was pattern. It was one group member followed by a member of the opposite group. It was really fun but it was hard. People kept slowing down to make it harder for the people coming. Next he made a circle with some cones and we had to try keep in it.  Gerry kept making it smaller and that made it harder for us to compete. There was great competition.
Gerry, then, made a road and to help us test our road skills and this made us better on the road. If you did not follow the rules of the road you would get tickets. The first one to get 3 points had to sit out. Since we were so good none of us got 3 points. After we finished with that game we went on to do an obstacle course. He timed us and we had a big competition. One mistake on the course would cost you dearly. It was great fun but it was really challenging.
After that game we started to play Simon says. You had to pay attention or else you would be out. After a few rounds of Simon says we started to cycle around our yard just to cool down. Gerry helped us a lot about the rules of the road. This would help us a lot in the near future. I would really recommend cycling training to other schools. Gerry had an in depth knowledge of the rule of the road and the games we played were really fun. In our opinion he was a top class instructor. He really helped us to learn the rules so we could stay safe on the roads!
